Professor Thapa’s narrative serves as an inspiring testament to the enduring influence of educational institutions in shaping individual trajectories and societal progress.

Nepal government, communities and concernd stakeholders should aggressively invest in rural teacher training on STEAM and design thinking, pilot mobile labs and maker spaces in underserved districts, embed arts and ethics alongside science and technology. Government should provide resources for fostering local innovation projects that blend cultural knowledge with global tools. Rural children of Nepal lack access to devices, internet, or AI literacy programs, are excluded from hands-on experiences in robotics, data science, or ethical coding. They do not benefit from AI for Good initiatives led by global and national actors and remain unseen in the AI ethics conversation, despite being most vuerable to future disruptions

Without STEAM, rural students are left unprepared for the realities of the 21st-century workforce and the ethical decisions that come with AI and automation. If we don’t bridge this STEAM divide, we risk reinforcing cycles of inequality, limiting local innovation, and excluding rural youth from future opportunities in both local and global economies. 

Nepal can take inspiration from India’s post-independence foresight. In 1946, India’s Sarkar Committee recommended creating world-class institutions (e.g., IITs, IIMs) that would align education with national development. These institutions became engines of innovation, STEM leadership, and global influence. Nepal has the opportunity to make a similar move—positioning its top institutions as anchors of innovation, scientific research, and economic progress aligned with Digital Nepal goals.  

Nepal has the potential to be a global destination for affordable, authentic, and spiritual health and wellness tourism. With the right mix of investment, infrastructure, training, and international marketing, Nepal can attract tourists looking not only for adventure—but also for healing and rejuvenation.

Investment in AI is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. When lives are at stake, budget constraints are unacceptable.

For generations, a dangerous pattern has persisted—one that has crippled our progress and dimmed the minds of our youth. Misinformation, disinformation, and deliberate misguidance have been tools of control, wielded by monarchs and ministers, priests and elites—not to empower the people, but to keep them passive, obedient, unquestioning. Critical thinking? Discouraged. Questioning? Forbidden.
