Infrastructure

The infrastructure pillar aims to establish the physical and digital foundation for a competitive tech sector. This includes: Broadband expansion: Projects are underway to expand fiber-optic networks and improve internet access nationwide, particularly in underserved rural areas. A $29 million investment from the IFC and other partners is dedicated to this effort, aligning with the government's goal of universal internet access. Cloud/data centers: The development of modern, secure, and environmentally sustainable data centers is a top priority. The government has issued new directives for the operation of data centers and cloud services, and companies like Ncell and WorldLink are building cutting-edge facilities to meet the rising demand for data storage and processing. Government-led programs like Digital Framework NepaL DNF 2,0l AI for All, and the National AI Mission are further fueling innovation, encouraging startups, and prioritizing ethical and inclusive AI development.
