AI  and awareness program

In the context of Nepal it is very important to introduce the ethical issues associated with using AI in education. The entire society should be engaged through the capitalization of social media tools to explain and improve on how ethical issues can be avoided, managed, mitigated and overcome. For this process it is important to understand the ethical framework for AI in education and the pathways to ethical AI.

Nepalese people should make efforts to make citizens aware of the importance  of understanding the need for an ethical approach because of prominent cases of algorithmic bias, backlashes against encroachments on individual privacy, harm/offence caused by out of control products, uses of data to manipulate users/citizens.

People of Nepal are not aware of what it is about AI that gives rise to ethical issues? Information- AI system processes and draws inside from data (introducing personal data), which has privacy implications. Extrapolation- AI systems tend to make judgements based on extrapolation from past event to future ones. This can bake ion and exacerbate provide biases, and can, to some extent, lock in future outcomes, thereby compromising individual autonomy. Automation- By performing tasks autonomously, AI systems can disrupt accountability structures and undermine human agency and control. These issues can be amplified by the fact AI systems are often unable to explain how particular outcomes are reached. Imitation- Because they often emulate humans in certain ways (assuming a gender , personality, position of authority), people may be encouraged to treat AI systems like humans . This can lead to placing too much trust in them, to the undermining of human-human interaction and to people treating Ai system inappropriate ways. Massive awareness campaigning is required to mitigate the disaster.

People of Nepal should be made aware of how an ethical approach is being realized? Seven Key Requirements of Trustworthy AI. Nepal is constrained by a lack of resources. Efforts are required from all the stakeholders to identify what resources are available to the sector. 

Ethical objectives even Key Requirement of Trustworthy AI, Human agency and oversight, Technical robustness and safety, Privacy and data governance, Transparency, Diversity, non Discrimination and fairness, Societal and environmental wellbeing, Accountability.

It is high time Nepal government worked on AI  code. Government was slow in implementing building codes and citizens had to suffer economic loss because of such lapses. There is going to be flood of disasters due to misuse of AI. Nepal is dominated by gangsters of unethical people in all sectors. There should be massive campaigning covering entire regions of Nepal to improve the behavior patter of people. There should be policy on behavior code other wise the nation will not be able to capitalize og benefit of AI. Artificial Intelligence should be developed for the  common good and benefit of humanity. Artificial intelligence should operate on principles of intelligibility and fairness. Artificial Intelligence should not be used to diminish the  rights or privacy of individuals, families or communities. All citizens have the right to be educated to enable them to flourish mentally, emotionally  and economically alongside Artificial Intelligence . The autonomous power to hurt, destroy or deceive human beings should never be wasted in Artificial Intelligence

The Ethical Framework for AI in Education

Sets out steps that educational institutions can take in order to help them to use AI ethically and with purpose ( It focuses on deployment, rather than development). Draws upon insights from consultations with educators , technologist, academics, learners, philosophers and ethicists and policy makers from around the world.

Achieving educational goals:  AI should be used to achieve well defined educational goals based on strong societal, educational or scientific evidence that this is for the benefit of learner.

Privacy- A balance should be struck between privacy and the legitimate use of data for achieving well-defined and desirable educational goals

Forms of Assessment : AI should be used to assess and recognize a boarder range of learners’ talents

Administration and workload : AI should increase the capacity of organizations whilst respecting human relationships

Equity: AI should be used in ways that promote equity between different groups of learners and not in ways that discriminate against any group of learners

Autonomy : AI should be used to increase the level of control that learners have over that their learning and development.

Transparency and Accountability- Humans are ultimately responsible for educational outcomes and should there for have an appropriate level of oversight of how AI system should operate.

Informed Participation- Learners ,educators and other relevant practitioners should have a reasonable understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Its implication

Ethical Design- AI resource should be designed by people who understand the impact of these resources will have.

The Ethical Framework translate these objectives into actionable criteria focusing on the stage at which actions should take place (ie pre-procurement, procurement, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) are clearly highlighted

A number of actions require educational institute to seek information/guarantees from organization that provide AI software. People will make mistakes here because the procurement are done by outsourcing to other countries which can bring havoc in the country if handled with ill intensions.
