Recommendation for Strengthening Cross-Sector Digital Integration in Health and Tourism through MoCIT Leadership

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has played a commendable role in advancing Nepal’s digital capabilities through key initiatives such as the Digital Nepal Framework 2.0, which recognizes the critical role of digital innovation across sectors including health, agriculture, and tourism.

MoCIT should play a more proactive, coordinating role in facilitating the integration of ICT solutions across the health and tourism sectors, in alignment with national development priorities and the goal of positioning Nepal as a globally respected destination for ethical, AI-assisted health tourism and agro-tourism.

Formal Inter-Ministerial Collaboration is essential initiating structured collaboration between MoCIT, the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation to leverage ICT for integrated health and tourism services. Support for Ethical AI and Data Governanceby leading the development of ethical AI frameworks and secure data infrastructure to ensure responsible use of technology in health tourism and agro-tourism. Encourage the development of digital platforms that link health services, tourism promotion, and agricultural products to enhance Nepal’s global visibility and service quality. Facilitate partnerships between MoCIT, academic institutions, and research bodies to drive innovation, skill development, and evidence-based policy in this integrated sector. MoCIT’s active participation in the NJPCC will ensure that ICT policies are effectively aligned with health and tourism strategies for maximum national benefit.

Nepal can unlock significant economic potential through digital transformation, ethical AI adoption, and cross-sector collaboration, in line with the vision of Digital Nepal Framework 2.0.
