National Joint Policy Coordination Committee (NJPCC)

There is an emerging strategic opportunity for Nepal to lead in the integrated development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), agriculture, health tourism, and rural prosperity.

Nepal possesses significant potential to become a globally respected destination for ethical, AI-assisted health tourism and agro-tourism. However, the fragmented approach to sectoral development risks inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and lack of alignment with ethical standards and international best practices.

A formal  of a National Joint Policy Coordination Committee (NJPCC) establishment under the leadership of the National Planning Commission (NPC). The NJPCC would bring together key ministries, academic institutions, the private sector, and community representatives to ensure responsible and ethical adoption of AI in agriculture, health, and tourism, Integrated infrastructure and workforce development, especially in rural areas, Protection of community rights, data privacy, and adherence to global ethical standards, Promotion of Nepal as a model for inclusive, technology-enabled, and sustainable development.

The NJPCC will serve as a high-level, multi-stakeholder platform to align policies, coordinate efforts, and monitor progress across these critical sectors. It will also enhance Nepal’s ability to engage effectively with international partners and development agencies.

There should be poletical will to approval for the formation of the NJPCC as an official inter-ministerial and multi-stakeholder body, designating the Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission as its Chairperson and mobilizing necessary resources and institutional arrangements for its effective functioning.
