A Tribute to My Parents: Wisdom Without Schooling

Some of the wisest people in the world never step foot in a classroom. My parents were among them.

They never had the chance to receive a formal education. Life, poverty, and oppression stood in the way of school. But what they lacked in certificates, they more than made up for in values, integrity, and service to others. Their lives were their classroom, and their actions were their lessons.

My father, with quiet strength and deep insight, worked tirelessly—not for personal gain, but for the betterment of society. He led by example, teaching me that dignity lies in labor, that truth must be spoken even in fear, and that one’s worth is not measured by degrees, but by deeds. He navigated life with a rare clarity and courage, guiding others even when he himself was walking an uncertain path.

My mother, too, was a force of nature. She stood at the frontlines of Nepal’s democratic struggles, supported underground resistance, and gave everything she had to help the poor and the powerless. She endured unthinkable hardship, but never once gave up her sense of purpose or compassion. Her life was a testament to sacrifice, strength, and boundless love. She raised her children with the firm belief that education, justice, and dignity were rights—not privileges.

Together, they gave more to Nepal than many who held titles and wore uniforms. They gave their time, their energy, their wisdom, and their love—quietly, humbly, and with no expectation of recognition.

Their story is not just mine to tell—it is part of Nepal’s history. They remind us that the soul of a nation is built not only by scholars and leaders, but by the everyday heroes whose courage goes unnoticed.

I am proud to be their child. And I carry forward their legacy—not in the form of inheritance or accolades—but in the values they lived by: humility, service, truth, and love for the people.

May their story inspire those who feel unseen. May it remind us all that greatness is not confined to the classroom. And may we honor the wisdom of those who walk life’s toughest roads with grace.
