Behavior Science and Psychotherapy

Lot of new models of handling mental health sciences have emerged with advancement of new innovations in digital tools. Technology  innovations have brought out lot of digital tools to solve the problem of psychology of human being in this world so how psychology is perceived in today's world is totally different from the earlier times when the signs of brain was not very clear about  internal structure of the brain and the functioning of the brain at the l cellular level and at the microscopic atomic level. Lot of details have  become very clear with the advancement of image technology. The science of biotechnology,  biotechnology, food technology, microbiology,  pharma technology, deep cognitive behaviour functions of the brain  including genetic engineering  are understood better with technological advancements making it easier for experts to provide services for human behaviour complexities.


Cognitive  behaviour therapy,  pharma therapy  are very specialised areas for the science of the human brain.  Lot of research is still  going on. THere is an acute shortage of human capital in this area to serve human mind complexes.

Mental health trends continue to reflect the mental stress and economic hardship brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, global economic crisis and natural disasters. There is a surge of demand for mental health professionals including high demand for counsellors. However, the psychology departments are not upgraded in Nepal and should be integrated with the Science department supported by adequate budget in order to train students through digital platforms.

Psychology counselling services are not affordable for the poor. These poor people should be guided by self help groups. Nobody can help unless they want  to improve instead of  believing in illusionary pieces of stones in the name of god.  

Due to across-the-board lifestyle changes, mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and related behavioral health issues like substance abuse are all on the rise. Mental health trends show an increased need for mental and behavioral health services. Rise in critical behavioral health support. Many are turning to digital health tools to treat rising mental health issues like anxiety and depression. There is a need for investment on digitals tools  to empower professionals and the affected people . People  at the grass root level are not aware of  new advances  in this sector. These tools become effective through the lense of a STEM background. 

The decision makers among  the policymakers specially from the Ministry of Education have to review and  upgrade this area. It is high time dialogue has started among concerned stakeholders regarding reviewing this area so that proper services can be delivered to the society by social scientists at field level.

Mental illness has to be handled in a professional way. It is both Art and Science. It is all about behaviour both overt and covert. It is in fact related to all other fields of study. The department of psychology in various colleges under the universities of Nepal have to review their program alignment with new research findings. This department has to come under the science department, Human resources in this area can flourish better with this new restructuring. For reaching the services to the rural ends, where it is need the most, STEM programs have to be rolled effectively across all academic institutes of rural ends.
