Rural and solution through technology
Higher percentage of people ( (wrong mentoring) of Nepal are in the grip of so called Poojaris of Nepal. Some Poojaris are good, however, some of them with vested mind have converted innocent people with poor economic back ground into "GOD FEARING" mind set. Such people with GOD fearing mind set refuse to change, they also lack capacity to analyze and hence continue getting manipulated by handful of Poojaris. The family decisions are taken with the consultation of Poojaris as per the old tradition and these poor people land up making wrong decisions. Large percentage of such people have remained poor with resources constraints. These Poojaris make them poorer because they take DAAN from them in the name of GOD and such people who already lack resources will continue to remain poor. Wish they would also impart valuable knowledge (specially in the sector of economic empowerment ) in exchange of DAAN because these poor people have shortage of such KNOWLEDGE and they are vulnerable to all kinds of crisis in life. Women from such community are affected even more. In our patriarchal society, older women are neglected, abused and are prone to violence. These insecure women mostly function according to old traditional belief system and behave according to the contents in their brain filled with god fearing superstitions.
I have observed exploitation happening during earthquake 2015. These poor people specially older women from uneducated community refuse to receive information and understand the science behind earthquake and the precautionary measures. I think these Poojari's need to redesign their functioning while interacting with poor people during natural disaster responses . For example while interfacing with earthquake victims they need to gain further knowledge, teach the scientific theory of Earthquake Science and power of INFORMATION infrastructure for timely responses from national and international relief operations rather than pumping in GOD fearing concepts into these uneducated brains of the poor. Behind them are people who make money in the name of poor people through NGOs and INGOs ( those which are not professionally managed). NGOs and INGOs who interface at the field level with affected communities should develop Data Science capabilities.
How are communities in rural regions actually connected? Why do rural Nepalese living in rural areas lack internet access that meets broad band service quality. What policies, might help fix those problems? What technologies would work best, and who should be in control of them? Rural areas of the Nepal have had less internet access than urban areas. High-speed wired connections are less common, and wireless phone service and signals are weaker than in cities – or absent altogether.
Service providers aren’t doing much to provide access for the 3 billion people who live in rural areas hundreds of kilometers from a base station. Companies attempting to provide Internet access to rural areas include Face book (with Aquila solar-powered drones) and Google (with Project Loon balloons)—both still in the test phase.
How can Smart Mobiles and BIG DATA scientists help generate BIG DATA (national property !) to help planners to design models to help social workers transform such category of poor people??
Developing new ways to interpret large amounts of information collected through web sites, transactions, records, and images can help provide solutions to many business, social, society, and technological challenges of today. BIG DATA enables decision makers to make informed decisions and better predict future outcomes.
